Who is eligible?
Section 43 of the Building Control Act 2007 outlines the criteria for individuals eligible for registration in the register of Building Surveyors.
This includes those who have the necessary qualifications and practical experience in building surveying such as members of the SCSI’s Building Surveying Division, the CIOB’s Building Surveying Section and the ABE.
What is the process?
Those who meet the criteria must apply to the Registration Body, which is administered by the Society for Chartered Surveyors Ireland, to become registered to use the professional title Building Surveyor.
CIOB members who are building surveyors are first required to apply to the Institute’s Faculty of Architecture and Surveying (FAS) for ratification of their professional occupation.
What support is provided?
Training LMS offer guidance on the process for both applications, how to write up submissions and review of all draft documentation prior to submission.
What is the format?
An initial ½ day workshop to outline the application process and provide detailed guidance on how to complete both submissions. Followed by 1-2-1 review and feedback for all draft documentation prior to final submissions being made to both the CIOB’s FAS and the Registration Body.
